Gauteng tops pupils' list in the world

Gauteng has the highest number of pupils in the world.
Premier Nomvula Mokonyane said during her political report on Friday afternoon that in 2010, the province's primary and secondary schools had a gross enrolment ratio of 84 and 83 percent respectively.
"This proved government's commitment in improving education," she said. Mokonyane said the number of people who matriculated in the province increased by 10. 22 percent from 2009 to 2010.”
She said the establishment of early childhood development sites had increased to almost 350 000 since 2009, training about 3 000 practitioners.
