Collecting cans for charity
Roedean School, together with other Gauteng schools and Makro, were involved in the second annual Phoenix Canned Drive.
Participating schools collected canned goods and nominated a beneficiary as part of their annual Youth Day corporate social investment project.
This year, the beneficiary was the Jesuit Refugee Services.
Makro agreed to match every can collected by the pupils, who brought half a truck load of baked beans. Tiger Brands and Rhodes Cannery also donated cans.
The total number of tins of food donated to the charity came to almost 30 000.
