Collecting cans for charity

Roedean School, together with other Gauteng
schools and Makro, were involved in the second annual Phoenix Canned Drive.
Participating schools collected canned goods and
nominated a beneficiary as part of their annual Youth Day corporate social
This year, the beneficiary was the Jesuit
Makro agreed to match every can collected by the
pupils, who brought half a truck load of baked beans. Tiger Brands and Rhodes
Cannery also donated cans.
The total number of tins of food donated to the
charity came to almost 30 000.
